Uchu is one interesting Peruvian restaurant sitting out there on the edge of the prairie in Maple Grove Minnesota. Very disadvantaged in ambience, it surprises with some thoughtfully executed dishes that would more often be found in an upscale restaurant, instead of a very bright fast food Dunkin Donuts/ Sbarro type space. However, it does have very nice wall hangings, a very serious looking industrial strength open kitchen and a friendly staff. The waitress couldn't have been more upbeat, helpful and perky. The food is a marvel and the prices are moderate. This is not where you want to be taking the spouse on Valentines Day or for sure if you are dating. Good place to get very interesting dishes for a quickie no fuss meal. It had us thinking about ordering a third dish. If you enjoy a really good cup of coffee, do not have it here - the only mistake they made. They use a lot of Uchu - so much they had to name the restaurant after it - we figured out eventually that it means pepper in an Inca dialect...Danny: was it the Incas that sacrificed virgins?...Roxanne: yes, they fattened them up first on food like this...
