Moved into a more spacious Riverplace location from their cramped place a few blocks north on Hennepin. Loaded with Victorian decor and taking inspiration from Oscar Wilde, they put out not English or Irish foods but American comfort food favorites. It's a varied menu that Oscar, the picky eater that he was, would most likely be able to find something he liked to go with his tea or wine. Plenty of Breakfast choices under $10. Sandwiches, salads and pizzas around $10. Service was really sub par though - maybe it's the move and having to ramp up with new help, but the young skinny blonde guy with earring needs a lot more training. He was never around when we needed help, managed to mess-up our orders and was strangely rude. The Menu seems promising, the location and space are great, but right now during the break-in period, the food quality and portions need to be kicked up a notch and of course the messed up orders and wacky service needs to end. We will not write the place off, what with the great location and eating outside with a view towards the Mississippi. We think it can improve if they can straighten out the many kinks, if not this place may very well follow the previous failed restaurants at this location. It won't be long until winter - and the outdoor dining and location certainly won't matter. What will convince Minnesotans to trudge through the snow and ice for a meal is great food and polished service. Also, they need to be more generous with the beer - for crying out loud in our beer - $5 for a 10 ounce glass?

State Beer Song
"...From the Land of Sky Blue Waters. From the land of pines' lofty balsams, Comes the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. Brewed where nature works her wonders, Aged for many moons, gently mellowed, Hamm's the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. From across the rippling water, Through the whisp'ring pines and birches, Comes the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. Comes a call to cool enchantment, Comes a call to cool refreshment, Hamm's the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hints of lakes and sunset breezes, Dance and sparkle in each glassful, Hamm's the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing..." Dylan probably wished he'd written this while flying high on Hamms.
