Swanky Japanese fusion restaurant in Edina. Excellent food. Generous portions. Top notch service. Reasonable prices. After watching a movie at Edina Cinema, we walked a few steps up 50th in the rain to Raku. We were greeted warmly by two helpful servers who after handing us warm towels to wash our hands explained all the wonders on the menu that were available to us and then preceded to attend to our needs.

We ended up choosing Nabe Yaki Udon (Chicken, egg, mixed vegetable and udon noodle soup) and the Combination Plate Tempura. The bowl of Nabe turned out to be shockingly huge. We involuntarily both said wow when our server (with buckling knees) placed it on the groaning table. This "bowl" of soup could serve 4 people. It's literally bigger than our heads. Afterwards you could turn it over and wear it as a rain hat and not get wet - forget the need for a rain coat. They also give you 2 pieces of jumbo shrimp tempura just to be sure you leave stuffed and feeling jumbo. The tempura plate itself was a huge stack of beautifully prepared pieces of veggies, shrimp and chicken in a delicate batter. We also had satisfying miso soup and green teas.

State Beer Song

"...From the Land of Sky Blue Waters. From the land of pines' lofty balsams, Comes the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. Brewed where nature works her wonders, Aged for many moons, gently mellowed, Hamm's the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. From across the rippling water, Through the whisp'ring pines and birches, Comes the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. Comes a call to cool enchantment, Comes a call to cool refreshment, Hamm's the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hints of lakes and sunset breezes, Dance and sparkle in each glassful, Hamm's the beer refreshing, Hamm's the beer refreshing..." Dylan probably wished he'd written this while flying high on Hamms.
